Planning Your Ceremony

Do we need a permit to elope at Mt. Baker?

You only need a special use permit in the Mt Baker-snoqualmie national forest if you have 75 people or more! So small elopements are okay without one! But always check the current site, as permit details can change. Before planning your Mt. Baker elopement, be sure to check for any permits or regulations required for your chosen location. This will ensure a smooth and stress-free experience on your special day.

Weather Considerations

Mt. Baker is known for its unpredictable weather, so it’s essential to have a backup plan in case of rain or snow. Consider renting a tent or canopy to provide shelter for your ceremony, or choose a location with indoor options nearby. Along these same lines, you’ll want to pick the time of year. The whole are is closed for the whole winter season due to snow. And during the summer, weekends will be really busy! I’m happy to help you make the best decision for your elopement.

When should we elope at Mt Baker?

Plan your elopement ceremony around sunrise or sunset to capture the most stunning light and dramatic skies. This will also help avoid crowds and ensure a more intimate experience in nature. However, I’ve also seen Mt. Shusksan , which is one of the great views of the area, be completely covered in fog! So being adaptable is good as well. And know that no matter what, we’ll make the day special for the two of you and get amazing photos.
